A day in the life

What does a typical school day look like at Kniveton Primary?

We make the most of our superb outdoor learning offering by keeping the children active and outside, learning in the environment we are so fortunate to have on our doorstep. Here is a typical timetable for a Class 1 child at Kniveton C of E Primary School.

8.00 - 8.50am

Tennis club with our resident sports coach

9.00 - 9.30am

Daily phonics session using our brand new phonics scheme, Little Wandle

9.30 - 10.25am

Literacy in the outdoor learning environment exploring
‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ stations

10.25 - 10.45am

Playtime on the field, all-weather sports court or adventure playground

10.45 - 11.50am

Maths in the forest, using conkers to help us understand place value

12.00 - 1.00pm

Our Year 6 prefects look after our little ones, help them cut up their food and introduce new games to them in the playground. There’s even a Pokémon club!

1.00 - 2.00pm

Now it’s time for science where we explore the growth of the vegetables we’ve recently planted ready for next week’s salad bar

2.00 - 3.00pm

Our gymnastics lesson in the hall, is where we practise our balancing techniques. Later on in school, children we take part in cross-country  and football competitions.

3.20 - 5.30pm

In after school club, we’re baking iced-buns for mums and dads
(and some greedy teachers)
